The Massie Heritage Center will hold the, ‘History of Persecution,’ evening walking tour on two consecutive Tuesdays, May 23rd and May 30th from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. The tours will begin at the Massie Heritage Center on Gordon Street and end on Bay Street. Cost is $15.
You will be guided through the streets of historic Savannah and learn about communities that fled oppression from other parts of the world only to find sanctuary in Savannah. Discover hidden histories of communities that suffered mistreatment and discrimination due to enslavement, exploitation and extreme poverty. Learn hidden histories of Native Americans, the Sephardic Jewish Community, the French, the Georgia Salzburgers, the Irish, African Americans and others – how they struggled and endeavored – making Savannah the diverse melting pot it is today.
