PEGASUS RIDING ACADEMY RUN FOR THE ROSES PARTY
SATURDAY MAY 3RD – 3:00pm TO 8pm.
Old Roberds Dairy, 2500 Tennessee Avenue
This lively local Kentucky Derby party will feature contests, refreshments, live horses, riding demonstration from the Special Olympics Equestrian Team and a guest talk on thoroughbred bloodlines. Attendees are encouraged to participate in the hat contest. Proceeds from the party will support infrastructure upgrades and therapeutic programs offered by the academy. Pegasus Riding Academy is a therapeutic riding program providing safe, professional, and ethical equine assisted activities for individuals with physical, mental, or emotional disabilities. THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION’S GO RED WOMEN’S LUNCHEON
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23RD 10:30AM – 1:30PM.
The event will begin with a reception & silent auction at followed by a seated lunch and educational session, as well as inspiring survivor stories to drive a conversation that encourages women to think holistically about their health and wellbeing. The event will also feature a fashion show with local celebrity models. This event is in support of the organization’s national “Go Red for Women” initiative to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease & stroke as the leading cause of death for women. BUY LOCAL SAVANNAH APRIL LUNCHEON
THURSDAY, APRIL 24TH AT COACH’S CORNER.
The luncheon will begin at 11am. This month WSAV Sports Director Jay Lamar will host a round table discussion on Savannah’s emerging sports scene with representatives from the Savannah Buccaneers, Ghost Pirates, Upshot League, Tormenta FC Pro Soccer and Savannah Sports Council. CITY OF SAVANNAH SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION
The City of Savannah will offer weekly youth summer camps beginning on May 27th through July 18th at select locations. A variety of camps will be offered, including summer arts, enrichment, recreation, and athletics. All camps prioritize placement for Savannah residents and will be open to non-city residents on a space-available basis at an additional cost. Bingo & Bubbly Brunch to benefit Safe Shelter will be held
on Sunday, May 4th at 11:30am at the Palmetto Club 11:30am, 1 Cottonwood Drive. The event will feature a brunch buffet, bottomless beverage station, bingo, auction items and a raffle. Safe Shelter provides services to prevent domestic violence, protect victims and promote change in lives, families, and our community. CAMP ALOHA REGISTRATION NOW OPEN
REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR THE 28TH ANNUAL CAMP ALOHA,
LED BY HOSPICE OF SAVANNAH’S FULL CIRCLE GRIEF AND LOSS
CENTER.
Counselors and volunteers will facilitate a weekend overnight camp for children ages 6 to 17 years old, who have experienced the death of a loved one within the past 24 months. Campers enjoy swimming, sports, games, group therapy sessions, campfires, playing, and making new friends who have also experienced loss. Camp Aloha will run from the evening of Friday, May 2nd, through the morning on Sunday, May 4th. Transportation is provided to and from New Ebenezer Retreat in Rincon, and camp costs are underwritten by community donations and generous sponsorship from Southern Motors. There is a nominal non-refundable $25 registration fee per child, which can be waived for those who may need a scholarship. For more information, please visit: www.HospiceSavannah.org/campaloha/.
