Free basic tax return help is available this tax season to those who qualify through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. VITA sites offer free help to people who need assistance preparing their own tax returns, including those who make $64,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English-speaking taxpayers. Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) is also offered for those 60 years of age and older, specializing in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors. The VITA and TCE sites are operated by IRS partners and staffed by volunteers who want to make a difference in their communities.
